SPERRY, OK -- The Chuck Wagon Restaurant on state Highway 11 in Sperry was damaged when fire broke out in a back storage closet.
Sperry Fire Chief Sam Bradley said his department responded to the blaze at about 11 p.m. Saturday.
Ice and snow from the holiday blizzard made their response time a little slower than usual, he said, but the fire was put out within about 30 minutes.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation but is not considered suspicious.
"There was heavy smoke and a little water damage," Bradley said. He estimated the loss at about $100,000, saying there was substantial damage to the popular restaurant's ceiling.
"It was awfully cold, and you have to worry about things freezing up," he said. No one was injured in the fire.
Turley and Country Corner Fire Departments assisted in responding to the restaurant fire.
