ROGERS COUNTY -- A Talala teen was killed in a single car collision at about 3:38 p.m. Wednesday. Broc Hulvey, 16, was pronounced dead at the scene after the Chevrolet pickup he was driving left the roadway at 3850 East 380 Road in Rogers County. The scene was about three miles northwest of Oologah.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers say Hulvey overcorrected after the pickup left the right side of the roadway. The truck then went off the left side of the road, crossed the two-lane, undivided highway and ran off the right side of the road again. The vehicle rolled one and a quarter times before coming to rest about 296 feet east of the point of impact.
A passenger in the pickup, 14-year-old Chase Qualls of Oologah was transported by Oologah-Talala EMS to Bailey Medical Center in Owasso. He was treated and released with head injuries.
Both teens were using seat belts, according to the OHP report. Airbags were equipped in the vehicle but did not deploy.
