UNDATED -- As moms and dads do their Christmas shopping, consumer watchdogs are publishing their list of dangerous toys.
Half of the toys have standard choking hazards, but the other half hides unexpected dangers.
For example, some toy telephones are loud enough to damage children's hearing.
Other toys contain dangerous toxins. According to the "Trouble in Toyland" report, an Elmo lunch bag contains serious levels of chemicals that can cause early onset puberty in girls.
"We need all hands on deck in promoting product safety. We need consumers, we need industry, and we need government," said Robert Adler, Consumer Product Safety Comm.
