TULSA---Today during chapel services Oral Roberts University President Mark Rutland presented 10 computers, a printer and installation services to Oaks Indian Mission. The money for the gift was raised entirely by ORU students, faculty and staff during twice-weekly chapel services.

‘Our new president has begun a new project, which is taking a missions offering during our chapel services,’ said Thomson Mathew, Dean of Theology and Missions for ORU, ‘and the students are responding by giving what they can. We are teaching them to feel compassion for others and to be a part of what God wants to do in the world, which is reaching out to the needy.’

Oaks Indian Mission, in Oaks, Oklahoma had initially requested only six computers, but the generosity of the students allowed them to buy the ten Dell computers and a printer presented today.

‘The most wonderful thing about the gift is not just the gift itself,’ said Oaks Indian Mission Board President Edward Gibeau, ‘but the fact that some of the students at ORU are going to come out to the mission and install it, and we are just looking forward to that.’

‘All we have is the gift from God, and we are teaching our students to learn to give that which they have received, and these offerings give them a chance to help the needy through their giving,’ said Dean Mathew.
