Now Is The Time To Prepare For Winter Weather

The governor has declared Tuesday "Winter Weather Preparedness Day" across the state to get people thinking about what's to come.

TULSA, OK -- We've had some beautiful weather lately and it's hard to believe winter is just around the corner.

Governor Brad Henry declared Tuesday "Winter Weather Preparedness Day" across the state to get people thinking about what's to come. 

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation, the National Weather Service and other state agencies teamed up to help people get ready for the freezing season. 

ODOT’s Recommended Emergency Kit Equipment To Keep In The Trunk Of Your Car:

  • Ice scraper or deicing spray
  • Jumper cables
  • Clay-based cat litter or sand
  • Shovel
  • Warm Clothes
  • Blankets
  • High energy food
  • Flashlights with extra batteries
  • First aid kit
  • Bright fabric tie for the antenna
  • Gloves
  • Paper towels
  • Flares or triangles to warn other vehicles
