Arkansas Bridge Work Bottlenecks Traffic On I-44

TULSA, OK -- Traffic has been backed up for westbound motorists on I-44 in Tulsa east of the Arkansas River bridge because of construction work on the bridge. 

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation says westbound traffic has been narrowed to one lane because the two left lanes are closed due to surface repair work. 

There was no details on what type of surface repair work was being done to the bridge.

ODOT says motorists can expect delays and are urged to find an alternative route. 

Officials say work on the Arkansas River bridge is expected to be done by sometime Wednesday afternoon.
