TULSA, OK -- Friday marked the 8th anniversary since the deadly terrorist attacks.  Memorial services remembering those who died took place in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania.

Vice President Joe Biden attended a memorial at Ground Zero where more than 100 volunteers who worked at the World Trade Center read the names of the victims.

President Barak Obama met with family members of victims who died at the Pentagon.

Former Secretary of State of State Colin Powel spoke at a tribute for the victims of United Airlines Flight 93, the plane that crashed in a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

While it's a national day of mourning, it's also a national day of service.

Several hundred Tulsa volunteers took time Friday to volunteer and come together, thanks to the Tulsa Area United Way.

The organization held a Day of Caring Friday and Friday morning they held the kickoff of the day long event at the University of Tulsa.
