TAHLEQUAH, Okla. (AP) - The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals will allow a Tahlequah woman who was convicted of first-degree manslaughter in a traffic death can appeal.
Trisha Catron is serving a 5-year prison sentence for the 2003 crash that killed Andrea Doyle. Authorities say Catron was driving drunk.
Time had expired for Catron to file a notice of appeal, but the court's ruling on Wednesday extened the deadline.
She now has 10 days after an obtaining an attorney to file a notice of intent to appeal or withdraw her guilty plea.
Catron initially received a deferred 5-year judgment in 2006, but prosecutors asked that the sentence be accelerated based on a new DUI arrest.
Catron was given a 10-year prison sentence, but the punishment was later modified.
