TULSA, OK -- The race for Tulsa mayor will be narrowed down to one Republican and one Democrat next Tuesday.

This past Tuesday night, the candidates were invited to a mayoral forum at Tulsa Technology Center in north Tulsa.

Organizers of the forum say they purposefully held their event before next Tuesday's primaries.  They wanted to give all the candidates in the race a chance to share their plans for improving education, public safety and economic development in north Tulsa.

"Unabashedly, the current mayor has been a friend to this part of the city. We want to make sure we continue that momentum," said Darick Morton with the Urban League of Young Professionals.

Mayor Kathy Taylor announced back in June she wanted to focus on running the city and not a second campaign.
