Tulsa County Buildings To Get Energy Audit

TULSA, OK -- The Tulsa County Commissioners on Monday awarded an energy savings performance contract to Johnson Controls. 

Tulsa County officials report in a news release the contract could cover up to 40 county buildings. 

Under the terms of the contract, Johnson Controls will conduct technical energy audits and construction development of energy efficient improvements, including the use of alternative energy sources such as wind and solar power.   

Buildings covered under the project include the jail, courthouse, administration, park and recreation, health department and Expo Square.

"This is a very significant step in implementing one of the major recommendations that came from the Performance Audit conducted last year.  I am confident that this project will not only sustain the usefulness and functioning  of many county buildings for years to come but will save tax payers dollars now being spent on the energy cost of these buildings.  No other county in Oklahoma has taken such a dramatic and important step in this area," said County Commissioner Fred Perry. 

Tulsa County officials say they hope the energy audits can begin by the first of the year and the results of those audits will be used to identify the energy improvements needed.
