SAPULPA, OK -- A Sand Springs man is dead after crashing his car into a tree in Creek County Thursday evening.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers say 45-year-old Raymond Douglas was speeding on 61st Street near state Highway 97 when he veered off the road.

Troopers say he tried to get back on the road, but overcorrected and struck a tree. He was pinned under the car for more than an hour.

Sapulpa Fire crews had to use the Jaws of Life to free him from the wreckage, but it was too late.

Douglas was pronounced dead at the scene.
