Teen Killed After Being Hit By Train Near Sand Springs

SAND SPRINGS, OK -- An investigation is still underway after a train hit a teenage pedestrian near Highway 51 and 161^st West Avenue.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers say 16-year-old Samantha Collins of Tulsa was walking on the tracks and didn't get out of the way when the train blew its horn several times. 

The teen died after being struck by the eastbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe train. 

The incident happened just before 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

This accident was the second accident Wednesday in eastern Oklahoma involving a train and a pedestrian. 

The first happened shortly after midnight on Wednesday in Nowata County.
