TULSA, OK -- A Tulsa church was destroyed Saturday after it caught fire and two firefighters were injured while fighting the blaze.

Crews with the Tulsa Fire Department responded to the fire at about 6:40 p.m. at Asamblea Apostolica, 2632 East Admiral Court.

The pastor of the church is looking for a place to hold Sunday services. The church has about 65 members. Anyone who can offer any help is asked to call Pastor Silas Cortez at 200-7005 or 812-8983. You can also e-mail Pastor Cortez at mailto:cortezworship@yahoo.com.

Admiral Church Fire

There was an initial report of a woman and infant inside the structure at the time of the fire, but that was inaccurate, crews said. The multiple call fire resulted in the response of 11 fire companies, two district chiefs and two fire investigators.

When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke and fire showing from the back of the building.

Two firefighters suffered minor injuries while fighting the fire, crews said. One was a heat-related injury and the other was an injury when a ceiling collapsed. EMSA checked the firefighters out and they were able to return to work.

The church was destroyed. Damage is estimated at $75,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
