Bystanders Tackle Fleeing Driver In Tulsa Traffic Accident

TULSA, OK -- A traffic accident at a Tulsa convenience store parking lot leads to bystanders chasing the driver and catching him.

The accident happened at midnight at the QuikTrip at 91st and Yale.

Police say a man in a borrowed Suburban apparently hit another vehicle as it pulled out. Officers say the driver of the Suburban left the scene of the accident, but not before a couple of witnesses tried to stop him by jumping onto the Suburban.

The driver sped east on 91st Street but drove off the road into a nearby culvert.

As he got out of the Suburban, several bystanders from the convenience store caught up with him on foot and held him down until Tulsa Police arrived and arrested the driver.

No one was seriously hurt in the incident.
