Owasso Church Helping Kids Get Ready For School

OWASSO, OK -- An Owasso church is on a mission to make sure kids get off to a successful start when they go back to school.  New Heights Church gave away backpacks and other school supplies on Wednesday.  They're also providing students with clothes, health screenings, and hair cuts.

The church has been doing this ministry for the past nine years.  Last year, more than 500 kids received backpacks and organizers say with the economy in such bad shape, they are prepared to give out even more this year.

"We find there are a lot of people right now who have a need and this is a way to help people out, to help them extend their budget.  You know, give them a helping hand," said New Heights Church Pastor Darin Hamm.
