TULSA, OK -- Linking fun and cooking with real nutrition, that's the goal of Cook Time with Remmi. She is a nine year old who has her own cable TV cooking show and website. And, she even takes the show on the road.
"Today we are making black bean salsa and corn salsa," said Remmi.
Remmi was cooking on Thursday at Barnard Elementary. The school is one of the site for Tulsa Public Schools' summer camps.
"My goal is to get you guys excited about cooking and eating healthy," Remmi told the campers.
The campers were divided into three groups making four salsas: fruit, tomato, black bean and corn salsa. Some of the older kids will make two of the salsas and all of them get a little piece of the action.
"We just wanna link the skill of cooking with good nutrition," said Remmi's mom, Nancy Smith.
She thought kids would be more receptive to one of their own. Remmi loves to cook and seems to have the right personality. So, now there is Cook Time with Remmi.
The camp at Barnard is part of Tulsa Public Schools before and after school program.
