TULSA, OK -- Two airlines which fly into Tulsa International Airport may become one. In an announcement Thursday, Southwest Airlines is making a bid to acquire Frontier Airlines.
Frontier is currently operating under bankruptcy protection.
A federal bankruptcy has already approved the sale of Frontier to Republic Airlines for $108.8 million, but that deal can be nixed if a better offer comes along.
In a news release from Southwest Airlines, the carrier says it has submitted a nonbinding proposal which is worth a minimum of $113 million.
Southwest offers a number of flights in and out of Tulsa and Frontier offers several flights daily between Tulsa and Denver.
