Cherokee County Authorities Investigate Homicide

Authorities in Cherokee County are investigating a murder and attempted suicide.

CHEROKEE COUNTY -- Authorities in Cherokee County are investigating a homicide and attempted suicide.

They say two neighbors had been talking Tuesday evening, when Kelly Compart, 47, left, but came back a little later and shot and killed 29-year-old Shannon Ragsdale.

Investigators say Compart then went to his home and when deputies approached, he tried to commit suicide. He shot himself, but is still alive.

Police don't know what may have led to the shooting.
