TULSA, OK -- An independent candidate for mayor of Tulsa has withdrawn from the race.
Tulsa Police officer Cleon Burrell has withdrawn as a candidate because of a City of Tulsa policy that prohibits city employees from running for city office.
The Tulsa County Election Board says because Burrell didn't submit his request to withdraw by last Friday's 5 p.m. deadline, Burrell's name will remain on the November 10 ballot.
