SAND SPRINGS, OK -- Hundreds of kids showed off their patriotism in Sand Springs on Friday. Waving Old Glory, they marched through downtown wishing onlookers a happy Fourth of July.
The kids are part of Project Summer Spirit. It's a school program teaching kids more about their hometown and its history.
"One of our main ideas behind Project Summer Spirit has always been to give the children a sense of community and a sense of belonging," said Project Summer Spirit's Rita Montgomery.
This is the 5th year the school has held a parade. Organizers say the city didn't have one and it's a tradition they wanted to bring back for the kids.
