TULSA, OK -- Television stations across the country finished making the switch to digital signals on Friday.  There are still some important things you may need to know about the transition.

The News On 6 began broadcasting in digital four months ago.  But, on Friday, every television signal is digital and that could mean a few hiccups for viewers.  Engineers at The News On 6 have been working throughout the week to make the transition.

"In this process, starting this afternoon and through the weekend hopefully finishing late Monday maybe Tuesday, we're going to be bringing ourselves up to full power on this new frequency," said KOTV Production Director John Quesnel.

To help viewers with the switch, we've setup a special hotline.

KOTV receptionist Kortney Smith says viewers are mostly concerned with signal strength and wondering why they're not receiving certain channels.  To help solve those problems, Production Director John Quesnel says it's important to rescan your converter over the next few days.

"The key thing is for viewers to keep rescanning, particularly on Monday and Tuesday, and that will be the best bet for them to see our new frequency, our new signal," said John Quesnel.

Quesnel also suggests taking another look at your antenna, particularly if you live farther away from Tulsa.  KOTV's tower is located in Coweta and your antenna should face that direction.

The good news, Quesnel says, after KOTV's signal is at full strength and you've rescanned there's nothing left to do.

"Once we've gotten up to full power on 45, they've rescanned, they're system is seeing all the new channels at full power, the new frequencies then they're good to go," said KOTV Production Director John Quesnel.

If you have any questions you can call KOTV at 732-6000 and talk with our DTV experts on Saturday.  If you have cable or satellite and are still having problems you should contact your provider directly.
