TULSA, OK -- "Mentoring to the Max" is the mission of Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor.

On Tuesday, Taylor announced new donations for 18 after-school programs in Tulsa and Union Public Schools for at-risk kids.

Bank of America pitched in $25,000 towards the cause and the Walton Family Foundation provided another $15,000.

"We need more adults as guiding lights in the lives of these amazing kids that live in Tulsa, Oklahoma," said Mayor Kathy Taylor.

"Mentoring to the Max" is an outcome of the 2006 "Building a Safer Tulsa Gang Summit."

Since January 2007, "Mentoring to the Max" has helped more than 700 students.

Anyone who is interested in becoming a mentor can call 211, a public recourse operated by the Community Service Council.
