Toddler Dies After Turnpike Crash

SAPULPA, OK -- A toddler dies after a Monday afternoon crash on the Turner Turnpike.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports 2-year-old Nakayla N. Buford of Muskogee died from injuries she sustained in the wreck.

Troopers say the child was a passenger in a car driven by 22-year-old Brittney Buford of Muskogee.  Buford was driving westbound on the turnpike in the outside lane when she tried to turnaround in a cut through.  She was struck by another vehicle which was westbound in the inside lane.

Nakayla Buford and another passenger were ejected from the vehicle.  A third was trapped in the wreckage.  Three others were treated and released.  A 7-month-old baby in the car was not injured. 

The driver of the second vehicle was not hurt.

The crash was near mile marker 219 which is between Sapulpa and Kellyville.
