McIntosh Co. To Get New Sheriff Next Week

EUFAULA, OK -- McIntosh County could have a new sheriff on the job by next Wednesday morning. 

McIntosh County Commissioners are taking applications until 9 a.m. Monday, June 1st. 

Sheriff Terry Jones resigned Tuesday after being charged with a federal misdemeanor on Friday.

Jones and Undersheriff Mykol Brookshire are accused by the U.S. Attorney's Office in Muskogee of pocketing part of a large some of cash confiscated from a driver during a traffic stop.

So far, Brookshire has not resigned. 

The McIntosh County Commissioners will interview candidates on Tuesday and make a decision on Wednesday morning.
