Muskogee Co. Murder Hearing Continues

MUSKOGEE, OK -- The preliminary hearing resumed Friday in Muskogee County district court for a Haskell man accused of killing his step-daughter.

Jerry Raney is charged with first-degree murder in the strangling death of 19-year-old Sarah Smart in 2006.

Prosecutors say Raney was the last person to see Smart alive before her body was found in a barrel in a Muskogee County pond.

Friday is the 11th day in the hearing which has been spread out over several weeks.
