TULSA, OK -- A Tulsa man was taken into custody after police officers say he admitted to shooting this wife in the chest.
EMSA first responded to the scene at about 10:30 Friday night in the 2500 block of North Garrison Place.
Crews arrived to find the woman shot in the chest and called officers to the scene.
Captain Ryan Perkins with the Tulsa Police Department said the woman's 51-year-old husband admitted to shooting her and said he wanted to speak with his attorney. That's when police took him into custody.
Perkins said the man had a gunshot wound to the hand.
Both were taken to a local hospital. Perkins said the woman was in critical condition and the man was in stable condition.
At least one handgun was found inside the home, Perkins said.
Police are investigating the incident and hope to get a statement from the woman once her condition improves.
