NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- Kidnapping and weapons charges have been filed against a former University of Oklahoma student accused of trying to abduct a faculty member at gunpoint.
Michael Joseph Childers was charged Tuesday in Cleveland County District Court for allegedly using a gun to force the female faculty member to leave her office at OU's Kaufman Hall last Friday.
After being forced down two flights of stairs to the first floor the woman dropped to the floor and began screaming and several people came to help her as Childers fled.
He was arrested Friday night in Broken Arrow and is now in the Cleveland County Jail without bond.
