TULSA, OK -- Law enforcement officers and safety advocates were honored Thursday for their work in protecting Oklahomans at the 16th annual Buckledown Awards.
Officers from Tulsa, Broken Arrow and Owasso were recognized for the initiative they take in preventing accidents and saving lives.
"The kind of work that these guys do in DUI and passenger safety and seatbelt enforcement makes a tremendous amount of difference," said Richard Coberg from OU's College of Liberal Studies.
This year's awards were given in memory of Michael Garner, a retired Tulsa police sergeant who founded the recognition ceremony.
