TULSA, OK -- Tulsa Police arrest a suspect in the city's 11th financial institution robbery of the year. The heist happened at the Commerce Bank in Utica Square near 21st and Utica just before 4 p.m. on Monday.
Tulsa Police Sgt. Dave Walker says the suspect walked into the bank and demanded money from a loan officer. After he was given money, the gunman demanded keys to a car and stole the loan officer's vehicle to make his getaway.
Tulsa Police detectives arrested 72-year-old Ronald Stewart in connection with the robbery before 8 p.m. Monday night.
Tulsa Police Sgt. Dave Walker says they received an anonymous tip that the suspect was in a motel in the area of 11th and Garnett.
Officers set up surveillance on all the motels in the area. Tulsa Police Warrants Officers found Stewart leaving the Executive Motel at 11300 E. 11th Street.
Officers were able to make an arrest of Stewart without incident. The cash and stolen vehicle were recovered.
