TULSA, OK -- Tulsa center Jerome Jordan scored 22 and snared 14 rebounds as the Golden Hurricane extended its winning streak to five games with a 76-65 win over Texas-El Paso on
Saturday.
Tulsa (17-7, 7-2 Conference USA) limited UTEP (13-9, 4-4) to 30.2 percent shooting and held the conference's all-time leading scorer, Stefon Jackson, to a season-low 11 points, almost 12 below his average.
Blanketed on defense by Tulsa's Ray Reese, Jackson finished 1-of-11 from the field. Randy Culpepper had 12 points to lead the Miners.
Justin Hurtt also had 11 points and Ben Uzoh added 10 for Tulsa, which will face No. 14 Memphis on Wednesday. Memphis edged Tulsa 55-54 on Jan. 13 on a last-second shot.
Jordan was 7-of-13 from the field, had three blocks and altered numerous other shots, contributing to UTEP's poor percentage.
