MUSKOGEE, OK -- A judge threatened to remove a stepfather accused of murder from his own preliminary hearing Wednesday.
Jerry Raney is accused of killing his 19-year-old stepdaughter, Sara Smart, in 2006. Her body was found in a barrel in a Haskell pond months after she disappeared.
The district attorney told the judge that Raney was mouthing words at him during the morning session.
Someone inside the courtroom also said Raney made gestures like he was firing a gun at the judge.
The judge is still hearing evidence before he decides whether Raney should stand trial.
