LAWRENCE, Kan. -- Kansas coach Bill Self confirms a report of an exchange he had with a top recruit during an NCAA evaluation period at a high school tournament in Missouri.
Kansas officials said Tuesday they are aware of the encounter Thursday night in Springfield, Mo., between Self and point guard John Wall.
Coaches are not allowed contact with recruits during an NCAA evaluation period other than to exchange greetings.
After Kansas' win over Texas A&M Monday night Self said the report is accurate. He says he "shook a hand and said, `I can't talk to you, but you played really well.'"
The question is whether the NCAA would consider Self and Wall's exchange as contact.
