TULSA, OK -- Ray Reese scored a season-high 17 points, Ben Uzoh had 16 points, five rebounds and five assists and Jerome Jordan dominated inside with 15 points and 10 rebounds as Tulsa rolled to a 67-44 victory over Northeastern State on Saturday.
The Riverhawks (3-8) shot just 30% (15-49) against their taller opponents. Tulsa, after a ragged start, closed the first half with a 14-4 run, ignited by two 3-pointers by Reese, to lead 33-20 at the break and steadily widened its advantage in the second half.
Reese canned 7 of 11 shots, including 3 of 4 3-pointers, as Tulsa (9-5) tuned up for the start of Conference USA competition. The Hurricane outrebounded NSU 45-31 and forced 14 turnovers.
Aaron Arango scored 16 points to lead NSU.
NSU cut the lead to 36-27 early in the second half, but consecutive 3-pointers by Glenn Andrews and Reese started a 14-3 run that pushed Tulsa's lead to 50-30.
