TULSA, OK -- Dobie Langenkemp recently published a book of his poetry and is now giving 100% of its proceeds to Meals on Wheels of Metro Tulsa.
Langenkemp held a book signing on Saturday for his collection of poetry. He says writing the poetry was just for fun and so it only seemed right to donate its profits.
"I'm a substitute driver for Meals on Wheels and I thought they could use the money. Each one of their little meals that go out to these people around town costs $3.00. So, I thought this would be a good place to put the money if I was able to sell any, and low and behold I've almost sold out my first printing," said Dobie Langenkemp, poet.
Langenkemp's book is called "Plenty of Gun." It's a collection of short poems written over a thirty year span and depicts Oklahoma culture and traditions.
