JENKS, OK -- A Jenks postmaster who took time to deliver presents on Christmas morning is retiring. James Gillespie has worked for the post office for 42 years.
Gillespie and another postal worker, Doug, delivered presents on Christmas despite the holiday. He says going above and beyond is nothing new for him. It's just part of the job.
"On Christmas Day those packages that come in on that truck are gonna sit here unless someone takes them out to deliver them. Doug and I usually come in and sort through the parcels and take off delivering them. We're usually through by about noon and that gives people those last minute presents," said James Gillespie.
Gillespie's last day at the post office was Wednesday. His colleagues say they will continue the tradition of delivering presents on Christmas morning.
