TULSA, OK -- A Green Country mother and daughter spend their holiday cash on strangers.
The organization is called "Red Gloves with Love." With the help of some local businesses, the family was able to make this holiday one to remember for many people who need it most.
The Iron Gates feeds 350 people or more every day of the year, and was the perfect place to deliver the surprise gifts.
"We wanted them to have something that wasn't a cast off, something that was new and a real gift. That's where Red Gloves with Love came from. It came from our hearts," said the organization founder Kaye Webb.
"Everyone needs help at one time or another in their life. Even if they don't want to admit it they need help," said Harvey Branch who picked up some gloves for his wife.
"Of course you need blankets, scarves, hats, gloves, and socks, and those things were included in all of the gifts. We thought its dark out there what could they use? So we found some kinetic energy flashlights that don't need batteries to use," said Gentry Bowles, with the Red Gloves for Love organization.
Gentry's two young sons and husband were also on hand helping to pass out the gifts.
"We got some gloves, lotion, socks, some candy bars. It means a lot to me because it's very cold out there," said Starla Branch who received the free gift.
"I stay outside sometimes, I stay under the bridge. It's really hard, but this is lovely. I think the shirt I got is lovely," said Wendell Crosslen.
"It's just nice to be able to give something small. It is small in the scheme of things it's very small. But it is something. And something is better than nothing," said Bowles.
"There's nothing better than giving and that's what Christmas is all about," said Webb.
