OKLAHOMA CITY -- AAA Oklahoma is projecting a decline in the number of Oklahomans traveling during the Christmas holiday season.
The automotive group projects 767,000 Oklahomans will travel over the holidays -- a dip of a little more than 2% from last year. Of those traveling, 92% will hit the road in automobiles.
Meanwhile, the group projects air travel among Oklahomans will be down more than 10%.
AAA Oklahoma spokesman Chuck Mai says the nation's economic situation undoubtedly has impacted travel plans.
But, he notes Oklahomans who do travel will enjoy declining hotel rates and fuel prices nearly half of what they were one year ago.
