OKLAHOMA CITY -- Country music star Toby Keith has presented a check for $500,000 and swung a sledgehammer to help Children's Hospital at OU Medical Center renovate an oncology unit.
The money was raised by Ally's House which is a charity Keith helped start four years ago to help children with cancer and their families.
The charity is named after the daughter of a friend of Keith's. Ally died of kidney cancer.
Keith was joined by 7-year-old Gage Sayre, 12-year-old Turner Swink, 16-year-old Paige Patrick and 18-year-old Trevor Dun in using sledgehammers to tear down a wall to make way for renovations.
The project will create a playroom, a family resource room, a room for infusion treatments, and an area for treating patients at the end of their lives.
