TULSA, OK -- There are over 1,800 people in the Tulsa community with HIV or AIDS, and many more are HIV positive and don't even know it.
On Saturday, hundreds from the Tulsa community and surrounding areas showed up to walk for awareness.
The 16th annual Tulsa AIDS Walk will help raise funds for the Tulsa Community AIDS Partnership.
The organization hopes to raise enough money to bring five AmeriCorps members to the Tulsa community to work in HIV prevention and care.
"The little walk that could is what we called it, and it's a lot about getting the community together once a year just to walk down riverside drive, show that we care, show that there is still a need here, show that there is still being people infected every day with the virus," said Stephen Eberle.
All funds raised at the walk will go to support direct HIV/AIDS services in Tulsa and will receive matching funds from a national grant.
