BARTLESVILLE, OK -- One person is dead and another is in police custody as a result of what Bartlesville Police Chief Tom Holland calls a vehicular homicide.
According to Holland an unnamed man was driving east bound on Frank Phillips Blvd. at about 5:30 Friday night at a high rate of speed and hit a bicyclist in front of the Wendy's restaurant. The bicyclist was thrown from the bike and landed in the parking lot.
The driver left the scene but a witness followed him until police could apprehend the driver. Authorities have not announced the name of the bicyclist.
Holland says police will be able to determine how fast the car was traveling once all of the evidence at the scene is analyzed.
