UNDATED -- He's been a three-time All-American, an Olympic Gold Medalist, an NBA star, and a successful jazz musician. Now, cancer survivor Wayman Tisdale is taking on another challenge.
Six weeks after his right leg was amputated above the knee, Wayman Tisdale tried out his temporary prosthetic leg at a clinic in Oklahoma City. The clinic staff had a surprise in store; his new leg is crimson with an interlocking OU.
"Man, I was blown away. I didn't know. I told them. I said. They said, ‘well, what do you think you would want?' And, I said, I have to have something with OU on it. You know, I really wanted hornets and crystals on it. It's awesome. Man, I'm excited about it. A new phase in my life. I'm ready," said Wayman Tisdale.
Tisdale is months ahead of most amputees in adapting to a prostheses. In a few weeks he'll be fitted for a permanent version. No doubt decorated the same way.
