TULSA, OK -- Tulsa's airport is testing new technology that could change the way we view security.
Tulsa International Airport is one of just about a dozen airports in the United States with Millimeter Wave Technology.
The machine uses electromagnetic waves to scan our bodies in just a couple of seconds. A few seconds after that, the energy reflected from those scans is turned into images on a computer screen. The entire process is hands-free.
"It does speed up the screening process and it's exciting. It's on the cutting edge of technology right here in Tulsa, Oklahoma," said Andrea McCauley with the Transportation Security Administration.
Andrea McCauley with the Transportation Security Administration says the new technology is customer friendly. She says they try to make the screening comfortable and private.
The new technology is getting positive feedback from passengers in Tulsa. But, if you're uncomfortable with the scan, you can still opt-out and get the traditional pat-down.
