CHANDLER, Okla. -- A police standoff continues Tuesday morning in Lincoln County.
Michael Washburn, 28, escaped from the Lincoln County Jail on Monday during a meeting with his attorney. Washburn was recently sentenced to 20 years in prison for shooting with intent to kill.
This search began Monday around noon. Authorities think Washburn is hiding somewhere in a Chandler residential neighborhood called "The Bottoms."
The area has been placed on lockdown.
"The community has been notified by several different methods they've been very cooperative," said Major Barry Ross with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. "There are several flyers in businesses so everyone in this area should be well aware."
Authorities thought they'd found the house Washburn was hiding in Monday night, but when they sent in a robot, Washburn was nowhere to be found.
They now think he's hiding in or around the many vacant homes in the neighborhood.
Washburn was previously convicted on drug charges. Authorities said he is considered dangerous.
