When September Brown's son, Gregory, died of leukemia, she and her husband were devastated.
"I spent five years kind of holing myself up in the house, burying myself in the computer and ignoring my family, and I needed to get out of that, out of that rut," said September Brown.
Now, she bicycles to work a few days a week and finds it is very therapeutic.
"The thing about it is, you're out in the open air," said certified cycling instructor Gary Parker. "Admittedly she does a lot of urban riding, but when you commute to work, you're going to leave a little earlier when the air is clear and fresh. You see the city in a different way. You really connect with the city."
Or reconnect with your family, as September has.
"I think about Greg every day. There will never be a day that I don't, but I think about my other children, too. Sometimes I think about Greg on the ride, certain things will remind me of him but it's OK. He's waiting for me," said September Brown.
A Bike to Work Meeting is set for September 12th.
