The federal government says six of Tulsa Public Schools' nine high schools don't make the grade. Rogers, Hale, Central, McLain, East Central and Webster all on the federal "needs improvement" list released on Thursday.
McLain is a special case though. The school met benchmarks last year, and another year of continued improvement will get the school off the list.
The elementary school in tornado-ravaged Picher also posted gains in the past year. They're set to leave the list if they make progress in math and reading. But the school itself is in jeopardy and the state may pull its funding after an audit of the district later this year.
