OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- State prosecutors have charged an Oklahoma City man with four felony counts of violating the Oklahoma Consumer Protection Act.
Douglas Barry, 46, operated You Bring It, We Sell It, a Warr Acres consignment store that sold merchandise on the Internet for consumers in exchange for a commission, the Oklahoma Attorney General's Office said Friday.
Barry is accused of selling merchandise on e-Bay for four people and then failing to provide the consumers with the money they were due from the sales.
"The items included a 1937 Dodge pickup, some electronic equipment and a Suzuki motorcycle," Attorney General Drew Edmondson said. "Mr. Barry did provide one customer with an initial payment of 45,000 but the customer was unable to collect the additional $12,000 he was due.
"In all, these four consumers should have received $22,600 from the sale of this merchandise. Barry used $17,600 to pay his own bills," Edmondson alleged.
The store closed its doors in March. Barry couldn't be reached Friday for comment.
