Geophysicist Killed In Crash

A traffic accident on state Highway 64 has killed the chief geophysicist at the Oklahoma Geological Survey in Leonard.

The accident happened Sunday afternoon near Bixby.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says James Lawson died when his SUV was hit by another SUV.

Lawson had worked at the Oklahoma Geological Survey office in Leonard since 1970.

A memorial service is planned for Thursday at the Leonard United Methodist Church.
