An excessive heat warning has been issued from Noon on Saturday until 7:00 Monday night. A ridge of high pressure along with mostly sunny skies will push temperatures into the 105 to 110 degree range.
Overnight lows are only expected to cool to the middle and upper 70's over the region.
An excessive heat warning means a prolonged period of dangerously hot temperatures will occur. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are likely.
Health officials are advising everyone to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air conditioned rooms and stay out of the sun. In addition, residents need to check on relatives and neighbors.
And be sure pets have plenty of fresh water and a source of shade.
EMSA treated at least five people on Saturday.
