It is Tulsa's time to rock. The 7th annual Dfest is underway in downtown Tulsa. The News On 6's Steve Berg reports this year's show is bigger than ever.
The festival features two days, 11 stages and 120 different bands. There's plenty to choose from. And, lots of people have come down town to check it out.
With so many bands, the toughest thing will be deciding who to see.
"The 20's, Paramore, All-American Rejects," said one Dfest goer.
"I'm here to see Moe. They're my favorite band," said another.
And organizer Jen Clark says they plan to fill it up.
"We've added another stage. We have a main outdoor stage now that holds 20,000 people," said organizer Jen Clark. "Three years ago, we had 15,000. Last year, there was 40,000. We're expecting 60,000 this year. That's the huge thing with this event. It continues to grow so much."
For some of the first-time festers, DiversaFest has made an impression.
"Definitely diverse. There's a lot of different people here," said one.
With temperature well into the 90's, Dfest could stand for De-hydrate Fest.
"It doesn't stop. When the sun goes down, the heat just keep rising up from the asphalt," said one at the festival.
And in the Dfest tradition, many of the 120 bands are from the Tulsa area.
"We still stay true and make sure half of those bands are from Oklahoma. But, people from all over the world still want to play at Dfest," said organizer Jen Clark.
It's worth pointing out that eight of the 11 venues are indoors, so that should help with the heat. Dfest continues on Saturday.
