Nautilus, Inc. on Thursday announced plans to consolidate its U.S. manufacturing and distribution facilities. The company will move its distribution efforts to Independence, Virginia and Portland, Oregon.
"By streamlining these functions, it supports our restructuring activity to provide better efficiency in our manufacturing processes and better service for our customers," states Tim Joyce SVP/General Manager.
Wayne Bolio with Nautilus says the Tulsa facility will close on December 19th. There are 148 employees who will be affected. Some of those workers may be able to transfer to Virginia where the company plans to transfer most of the Tulsa operations.
Other employees will be given severance packages based upon their years of service to the company.
Nautilus, Inc. does not plan to eliminate any major product lines as a result of the consolidation.
The company is in the process of determining the costs to be incurred for the consolidation and will disclose more information during their July 31, 2008 earnings conference call.
